Surplus is an Indonesian app that has made a significant impact by rescuing surplus meals from food vendors and offering them to customers at a 50% discount. By rescuing 8300 meals, equivalent to 1700 kg, Surplus has prevented an economic loss of Rp 100,000,000 for business owners. Additionally, they have prevented 50 tons of CO2 emissions from food waste and 10% of its users do not use single-use plastic, instead utilising their own containers. Surplus is making a significant contribution to the Zero Food Waste movement in Indonesia.
